==============

This week on the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations blog roundup:
  • Is a privilege the only check for granting access to forms?
  • Generate default finance, SCM and WHM templates from Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations
  • Using business events and recurring integrations API to extract data from D365FO
  • How to generate number sequences
Is a privilege the only check for granting access to forms?

Writing on his blog, André Arnaud de Calavon pointed out that usually when you add a menu item to a privilege and set the correct permissions, the user will be able to open the form linked to the menu item. However, that's not always the case because there is another prerequisite in the security framework of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

In his blog post, Arnaud de Calavon provided more information about the additional requirement and offered some thoughts using an example. He started his example with the navigation in the application, beginning with the main menu and explained that depending on the granted security permissions, the users will see only a subset of menu items relevant for their duties to be able to perform their work.

Arnaud de Calavon then discussed the additional check that is performed by Dynamics when you open forms. Finally, he offered a solution if you're unable to open the form linked to the main menu item.

Generate default finance, SCM and WHM templates from Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

On his MsDynamics365 Empowered Community blog, Ramit Paul wrote about how to generate module wise data entity templates for specific modules for a fresh implementation.

Paul noted that before every D365FO implementation, users need to discuss module wise templates with the business team, which them sends the templates to users. However, that can take some time and cause project sprint delivery delays.

He then noted that there is a very easy, one-click solution in D365FO that can be used to generate the templates for individual modules. This means that users don't have to wait for consultants to individually export and send them the templates.
