msdynamicsworld: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central & NAV Insights: Docker for production; Integrating with Talent; Open source System App; Custom extensions
Источник: https://msdynamicsworld.com/story/mi...ng-talent-open
==============

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and NAV pros shared their insights, arguing for updates through Docker, explaining integrations with Dynamics 365 Talent and assessing the new open source System App and custom extension best practices.

Having a Business Central on-prem production environment in Docker

Eric Wauters, writing on Waldo's Blog pondered whether it's possible to have D365 Business Central on-prem production environment housed in Docker. He offered his short answer: "Not yet." Wauters called for Microsoft to make Docker an alternative to NST deployments, thereby offering a way to continuously upgrade customers and perform hot fixes. Using Docker would allow hundreds of customers or users to be treated the same for a general upgrade or receive much more granular updates specific to their version.

Wauters suggested hosting release branches for all currently supported releases in GitHub or DevOps. He inferred that if it is easier to update and use Business Central more customers will be on the latest version. He wrote:
Just imagine – all you do to install an OnPrem Business Central customer is to install a real SQL Server for the database, and use the docker images provided by Microsoft for the NST.  Why only the NST?  Well, that’s the part that needs to be upgradable like every single month. But when on Docker, you know how easy it is to set up a new environment, right?  How easy would it be to upgrade, to set up UAT environments in other versions, to "play" with localizations…Well, as easy as we know already by using Docker.

Currently, Wauters is already using this approach for his internal database.
