Hi friends again we r here with a mesmerizing post related to upgrade, i hope it will help you all to conquer the upgrade task......

AX 2012 FP ->AX 2012 R2 CU1 Upgrade Steps

1. Create test system as copy of production
2. Record version and installed model
3. Delete all integration ,retail and user layer
4. Complete s/w update check list (at least compilation and Sync)
5. Record version and installed model and confirm uninstallation of model(SQL Backup)
6. Check server configuration for is batch checkbox checked or not
7. CU4 Upgrade(SQL Backup) Record version and installed model
8. Run AX 2012 R2 setup to split the DB(SQL Backup)
9. Uninstalled all components of previous instance from control panel
10. Install AOS client, management shell and other components through the AX 2012R2 setup
11. Install R2 CU1
12. Compile Application(through the command)
13. Fix the DB sync warning on the test
14. Record and verify version and install model
15. Export all upgraded Microsoft layers(SQL Backup)
16. Create development system as a copy of test
17. Complete code upgrade check list on development system(SQL Backup)
18. Code merging for the customized objects
19. Export VAR layer model
20. Run installmode command before exporting model store
21. Export Model stores(SQL Backup)
22. Import upgraded model stores on test
23. Complete data upgrade check list(SQL Backup)
24. Put all integration along with retail and test it
25. If test is working fine with upgraded data and with all integration(SQL Backup)
26. Put upgraded model stores in production
27. And complete data upgrade on the production
28. Upgrade all Retail, Clients and other components on the production
29. Upgrade all other clients
30. Complete testing on production environment
